Why Study Democracy and Revolutions?
Studying any part of history is important, each playing a role in the world as we know it today. Each a clue as to why people, places, and societies are the way they are not only in the past, but also in present day. Studying revolutions are wonderful examples of this because revolutions reveal a lot about a country and its history. The way the country’s modern government is formed can often be traced back to its revolution. Examining different revolutions allows us to see the ways revolutions shape their countries and have a dramatic impact not only within their own country, but on the rest of the world. It is also a great way to examine the different events and ideas that make up a revolution, and why they are so important to people.
It is extremely important to learn about the philosophers that introduced democracy and democratic ideas into our society. When we can fully understand their perspectives, we can start to understand the foundations of democratic governments. We can also understand what caused people to act in the ways they did because of what they believed in and we can understand what they were fighting for.
